If you want to get properly good at dating, the era runs are the way: five scenes drawn from a single period, so you build a feel for what that century actually looked like instead of jumping from Rome to the 1960s and back.

Year scoring falls away smoothly rather than all at once, so being a decade out in the twentieth century and a century out in antiquity are treated as comparable achievements. The ancient world is genuinely harder to date and the scoring says so.
