How to read a Swedish scene

Sweden reads as low horizons, water everywhere and a very sudden jump from timber to modernism. Almost nothing in a Swedish scene is monumental until the 17th century, when the empire years pour Baroque stone into Stockholm and then stop just as abruptly.

    Architecture

Falu-red timber with white corners means countryside and almost any century; plastered ochre and pale-yellow blocks with green copper roofs put you in Stockholm or Gothenburg after 1650. Post-war concrete slabs in long rows are Miljonprogrammet — 1965 to 1974, almost to the year.

    Landscape

Granite outcrops, birch and pine, and a shoreline that never quite settles into either sea or lake. If the water is threaded with low rocky islands, you are in the Stockholm or Gothenburg archipelago rather than the Baltic coast proper.

    Period tells

Rune stones and grave fields point to 800–1100. Onion-domed church towers appear after the 1600s. Right-hand traffic only starts in September 1967 — a street scene with cars on the left is Sweden before Dagen H.

    Build a Swedish round yourself

You don't need a photograph or a map reference. Name a moment — "Birka trading town at its height, Björkö, Lake Mälaren" — and the builder fills in the year, drops the pin, writes the factoid and paints a 360° scene you can stand inside. Publish it and it joins this collection for everyone.

    1. Step 1

      Name the moment

One line is enough — an event, a place, a year you half-remember. Or let the AI draft five moments around a theme.

    2. Step 2

      Auto-fill the history

The year, the exact coordinates and a one-sentence factoid come back filled in. Everything stays editable.

    3. Step 3

      Generate the scene

A 4K 360° panorama of that place in that year, ready to spin around inside the game.

🇸🇪 Put your own scene on /play/sweden

Credits cover the AI: 1 to auto-fill a moment, 3 to draft five at once, 25 for each 4K panorama. Your map stays yours — you choose whether it's public, unlisted or private.
